Managing Director

Andrew has over 20 years of professional experience within the sectors of civil engineering, demolition, remediation and housing. Urban Regen was founded in 2001, with Andrew combining his knowledge and expertise within these four specific sectors to offer fully considered and integrated remediation solutions. Andrew was brought up in and around the house building industry and following university moved onto engineering and managing large scale civil engineering projects such as bridge works, dual carriageways and remediation for government bodies with Budge and Alfred McAlpine. Following a move from Alfred McAlpine, Andrew then started to integrate his experience within remediation engineering and house building.

Andrew is renowned for his hands on approach and his genuine attitude towards business and partnering. This business ethos is relayed through every employee and sub contractor to maintain Urban Regen’s high standards of client satisfaction and product delivery.

Pete Wilson Operations Director

Pete Wilson BSc (Hons)

Operations Director

With nearly 30 years experience in the construction industry and 16 years specialising in remediation and the redevelopment of contaminated land, Pete has direct expertise in successfully managing remediation projects up to Board level, within the residential and commercial sectors. For 5 years Pete was Remediation Director for Balfour Beatty CSUK, coordinated the company’s remediation activities on a national basis including the Environment Agency’s Contaminated Land Remediation Contractor’s Framework and also fulfilled the role of Operations Director for Birse Nuclear at Sellafield and on Vault 9 of the Low Level Waste Repository at Drigg, Cumbria.

Paul Johnston Estimating and Technical Manager

Paul Johnston

Estimating & Technical Manager

Paul built up an experience in the remediation and civil engineering sectors, working for D Morgan and Alfred McAlpine Civil Engineering before moving to Urban Regen in 2004. After running numerous remediation schemes as Project Manager, Paul came into the office as Estimator working on tender opportunities as well as pricing up budgets for housebuilders requiring remediation budget advice for land opportunities that they are exploring.

Gary Owen Contracts Owen

Gary Owen

Contracts Manager (Remediation)

Gary has 12 years experience in remediation including civils and infrastructure works. He worked as an Engineer initially on large remediation sites, progressing to management / Project management / Contracts Management of projects up to the value of £18 million.

Emma Cowin Quantity Surveyor

Emma Cowin BA (Hons) Quantity Surveying

Company Secretary

16 years experience in Civil Engineering projects. Working previously for AMEC/McAlpine JV (M65 motorway), Christiani Nielson and Bethell Construction.

Emma has gained experience on a variety of projects from general earthworks, drainage and roadworks to Bridgeworks, being involved in the Lowry Centre footbridge and the earthwork retained footbridge at the Manchester City Stadium.

Finance Manager

Stuart has over 35 years experience of working in an Accounts Department within the Construction Industry as a Company Accountant initially with Broseley Estates/Ideal Homes and most recently with Barratt Manchester for the ten years ending in March 2008. The latter position involved the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts and subsequent presentation of this information to the Board.

Stuart joined Urban Regen in March 2008 and carries out a similar role in preparing the Quarterly Management Accounts. This includes the day to day use and maintenance of the various related Accounting Sub-systems. Some of his other duties include dealing with the Company’s Statutory Returns i.e. VAT and CIS, together with the regular monitoring of the Company’s Daily Cash Positions and preparation of Forecasts.

Stuart Gaskell Finance Manager

Ian Hadfield BSc (Hons)

Ian has over 20 years of experience within the soil remediation business, in the UK, USA, and Ireland.

In July 2004, when the EU Landfill Directive effectively banned the disposal of hazardous waste at the vast majority of UK landfill sites, Ian seized the opportunity to introduce on-site soil treatment technologies he used in the United States since the mid1980s, while working as Vice President of United Retek Corporation, a pioneer of on-site soil remediation in the States.

Ian now heads up Urban Soil Solutions, the new soil treatment division of Urban Regen, bringing his knowledge and experience to clean up contaminated soil for our clients throughout the UK and Northern Ireland.
